Man Died After Clarksburg House Explosion; Some Evacuation Orders Lifted

UPDATE: 1/27/2025, 9:58 a.m. — The man who was injured in a house explosion in Clarksburg on Sunday has died.

A Clarksburg Fire Department official confirmed to 12 News Monday morning that a male resident of the house that exploded suffered massive trauma and died later at the hospital.

That official also said that Hope Gas has found several leaks in the area and are still looking for more.

A five block radius of the home was evacuated, but as of 10 a.m. Monday, the following streets are now open for people to return home, according to the city officials:

  • Van Buren
  • Mckinley
  • Roosevelt
  • Ryan Road
  • Frederick Street
  • Arthur Avenue
  • Taylor Street
  • Garfied Road
  • Polk Street
  • Cleveland
  • Thorne Street
  • Collins Street
  • Camden Street
  • Frederick Street
  • Harvey Street
  • Custer Street
  • Harvey Street

Residents of Harvey Street should return home from Fredrick Street. Portions of Chestnut Street are still closed.
