Notebook Check Features New Cosmos USA's Launch of Denova Detect Natural Gas Alarm With 10 Year Battery to Prevent House Explosions and Fires

New Cosmos USA has introduced the DeNova Detect, a battery-powered, natural gas alarm. Home owners can rely on gas leak detection for up to 10 years before replacement is required. Because this alarm does not depend on AC power, there is no need to worry when the power goes out. Also, the DeNova can also be easily mounted anywhere especially on the ceiling where natural gas accumulates during a leak.

America’s natural gas infrastructure was built many decades ago and as pipes age and leak, home explosions and fires have been increasing. The National Fire Protection Agency has noted that gas leak incidences increased from 100,000 in 2007 to 141,000 in 2016. While most leaks do not harm, about 4,200 fires occur yearly. Critically, about 300 gas explosions occur with devastating loss of life each year.

Power reduction of the detector is achieved using a gas sensor built on MEMS technology. These very small micro-electromechanical system devices are used where low power consumption and high reliability is desired such as the microphones and speakers inside tiny earbuds. Tests by the company show the DeNova responding to gas leaks up to 11 minutes faster than other alarms. The unit also resists false alarms due to airborne household chemicals and sprays. An Amazon Sidewalk compatible model with smartphone alerts and 7 year battery was released earlier this year.

A gas detector is a smart addition to a combination fire and carbon monoxide detector (such as this one at Amazon) to protect your family. The DeNova Detect is available for purchase today.
